The Overselling & Warehouse Sync Bottleneck

A major retail enterprise with physical outlets and multiple online storefronts suffered from stock desynchronization. Orders placed during flash sales led to overselling and delayed fulfillment because inventory updates took minutes to reflect across regional fulfillment hubs.

We engineered an event-driven inventory message streaming pipeline using Kafka and Elasticsearch, broadcasting stock reservation events instantaneously to prevent duplicate picking and automatically routing orders to the nearest distribution warehouse.
